Mashable (20/05) mentions that AbsorbPlate is a new innovation from both parties. The dishes that looked unusual claimed could absorb about 7 ml of oil or an average of 30 calories from whole foods which are placed on the surface.

According to a promotional video AbsorbPlate, dish sponge follow the design surface. There are 500 small holes to absorb the food into the gap. So that could draw excess oil. AbsorbPlate also has some design drawing. In the video there are five different designs. Even so, AbsorbPlate still in the concept stage. Launch date has not been determined.
